No. Black Dolla Indy is a for-profit platform focused on providing visibility to Black-owned businesses through a subscription-based membership.
Black Dolla Connect is the nonprofit arm, dedicated to education, community outreach, and connecting individuals to business resources and programs.
While they work in alignment to support Black entrepreneurship, they operate independently with distinct missions and services.
Black Dolla Indy boosts your visibility by positioning your business inside the “Shop The Culture” Directory, a searchable platform intentionally built to help consumers find and support Black-owned businesses.
Your business is not just placed in a random listing. It’s connected to a larger ecosystem designed to keep your business visible through multiple channels, including directory searches, newsletters, strategic partnerships, referrals, spotlight opportunities, and advertising options for your events, workshops, coupons, and promotions.
In addition, Black Dolla Indy is connected to a powerful community network through partnerships and relationships with organizations like Black Dolla Connect, LISC, ISBDC, Verizon Digital Ready, and other community initiatives focused on strengthening Black businesses and increasing access to resources and opportunities.
The goal is simple:
To help consumers find your business more easily while giving your business intentional visibility beyond social media algorithms.
While we can’t promise sales, we can promise visibility, and in today’s market, visibility matters.
Advertising is exclusive to members. While non-members might occasionally be highlighted in our newsletters and can purchase single or 6-Day showcase highlights, they won’t have access to directory listings, ads, or bonus Sista company features.
The Facebook group helps businesses stay visible socially. The membership helps businesses stay visible strategically.
Social media posts move fast. Algorithms change. Posts get buried. The “Shop The Culture” Directory gives your business a trusted, searchable home designed to work for you even when you’re not actively posting.
Social visibility is only one channel. We also want to ensure consumers who may not use social media, aren’t active online daily, or don’t have access to our Sista company’s massive social reach, still have a trusted way to find your business when they need your products or services.
For just $15/month or $180/year, your membership gives your business access to visibility opportunities, trusted positioning, and community reach that would typically cost significantly more through traditional advertising and marketing channels. More importantly, it places your business inside a platform intentionally built to strengthen the Black business ecosystem and encourage consumers to shop intentionally within the community.

Yelp also recognized Black Dolla Indy as part of the reason Indianapolis saw growth in Black business registrations and visibility efforts within the community.
